Little Millet (Panicum sumatrense) is one of the oldest cultivated grains in South India, grown for centuries in the hill regions of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Known locally as Chaama, it thrives in dry, marginal soils with minimal water — long before rice became the everyday staple, grains like this fed entire communities.
Today, we source Little Millet from small farming communities in Wayanad and Attapadi, keeping the same traditional growing practices alive while bringing the grain back to modern kitchens.

What "unpolished" actually means
Most milled grains are polished to look uniform and cook faster — a process that strips away the bran and germ, along with most of the fiber and nutrients. We don't do that.
Little Millet is naturally rich in dietary fiber and iron, with a low glycemic index — making it a steady source of energy that's gentle on blood sugar.
